We Australians and New Zealanders have one thing in common, that is, the bond formed by our forefathers. Like many, my family lost brothers, sisters, sons, daughters, fathers, mothers, uncles, and aunties. Thankfully my Grandfather William McCubbing Carruthers survived WW1 and married his nurse Anne Halliday. After the war, settled in New Zealand and built a very successful Dairy Farm business, was a member of the RSA, President of the Agricultural Society, but to me he was my Grandad. My hope i
