This book throws more light on a relatively unknown part of Tudor History. It focuses on the reigns of Edward I and Mary I, and covers the Anglo-Scottish War and the Succession Crisis. These Monach's reigns remain largely by-passed in naval history, yet it was a vital time for the administration of the navy and it saw the apprenticeship of many who would lead the service in Elizabeth’s later years.
