Scripture and History in the Middle Ages / Schriftsinn und Geschichte im Mittelalter

The studies focus on the question «What is ‹history› in late antique and medieval biblical commentaries?» The question concerns the term «historia»: to what uses is it put by the exegetes, and what do they mean by «historical sense»? It also concerns the representations of history in a modern sense, observable in the interpretation of the Bible. Answers are searched for in the vocabulary used by the authors, and by comparing different expositions. It follows that history as a text tends to give
