Preface - Andrew Crowther Nursing management is rapidly becoming more complex and diverse. Nursemanagers are expected to have a multitude of skills apart from advanced clinicalexpertise. Among other tasks, they are required to understand the complexitiesof recruiting and rostering staff, to be able to counsel those staff, to understandthe intricacies of budgeting and risk analysis, and to function as educators. Inmany instances, the nurse manager is underprepared for this multiplicity of roles.H
