Noah's Promise

By heeding God’s call to build an ark, Noah saved a small band of people and animals from extinction. After the great flood, God promised that he’d never again destroy the earth and sealed the covenant with a rainbow. In the biblical story, Noah accepts the covenant in silence. In this retelling of the story, Noah speaks back, promising that humans will not destroy the earth either. But today, the earth’s biosphere is in crisis. There is an urgent need for humans to avert a climate catastrophe.
