Metaphor, Nation and Discourse

This chapter focuses on the analysis of metaphors employed in the first episode of the television series Gran Nord (2012–2013) (Great North) broadcast in prime time by Catalan television. The chapter demonstrates that these metaphors contribute to the construction of ideological meanings around the spaces which constitute the fictional universe of the series in relation to the apparently conflicting aspects of the protagonist's identity.
