This work is part of the opening salvo of the celebration of the bi-centennial of the Texas War for Independence from Mexico (1835-36); a sweeping tale of the exploration, colonization and rebellion which led to the creation of the Republic of Texas in April of 1836. Much of the story is seen through the eyes of a man who was born to a prominent Lexington, Virginia family in 1802, which then relocated to Lexington, Kentucky in 1811. One of their sons would continue the great western migration an
