The 1920s was the decade when psychoanalysis moved from the fringes of accepted medical practice into the mainstream. It also witnessed the birth of the English-language International Journal of Psychoanalysis. Freud continued to dominate the psychoanalytic arena with his continuing innovations and expansion of ideas but topics of interest outside of his inspiration also grew.
