These essays come from encounters with a silent HELPER, whom as a child, I couldn't identify. In 1953, I was a nearly deaf child placed in first grade in a public school where I sank like a rock and sank for eight years. At home, I was living with an un-diagnosed Bipolar mother, and in school, sent to Special Education.
