Disaster recovery (DR) involves a set of procedures and policies to recover or possibly continue essential technological infrastructure and systems following a disaster caused by human or natural causes. Disaster recovery focuses on IT or technology systems that support critical business functions, as opposed to business continuity, which means that all important elements of a business function despite major disruptive events.
