This article investigates the presence of adaptive management in a bilingual school setting in Madrid, Spain. The data supporting the research was obtained from a longitudinal corpus of classroom interaction over 6 years. The purpose of the study is to investigate the effect of pragmatic markers in teacher talk to avoid misunderstanding and show how the use of the markers evolved throughout the duration of study. Results show that the evolution of adaptive management in the corpus is marked by t
