Coming from Cumberland reframes the story of a child being born at home and living off- the-grid deep in a back-country woods in Cumberland County, Tennessee in the early1940's. The first years of her life have shown her nothing about a life outside of the homestead. Her childhood is even more complicated by being the oldest daughter in a sometimes difficult and challenging family. Her life grows and changes as the family emigrates to Ohio.
