As children, we searched for four-leaf clovers and carried a keychain with a rabbit’s foot because we were told they were good luck. We were told not to cut the pole or step on a crack on the sidewalk. We put our teeth under our pillow so the Tooth Fairy would leave money. We collected Easter eggs from the Easter Bunny. We tried to stay awake in hopes of getting a glimpse of Santa Claus. We blew out candles and made a wish without questioning who we were making a wish to or who answers wishes. I
