Helen Maria Hunt Jackson, was born Helen Fiske on October 15, 1830 in Amherst, Massachusetts. She is most famously known for her novel Ramona, about the mistreatment of Native Americans in Southern California. Reprinted hundreds of times it is often cited as one of the most ethical novels ever written. We publish here most of her poetic output.
